t
is with heartfelt sorrow that I inform everyone, that long time San Diego
resident and Blues Great, Henry Ford Thompson, passed away Saturday June
14th., 2003.
Henry
was born in Memphis, Tennessee. At the age of eight he eagerly constructed
and plucked at various single stringed instruments.
Henry
was enamered with music and could be found hanging around a host of influential
legendary Blues performers including Joe Hill Lewis.
Henry
began his own musical career in 1955, with the purchase of his first electric
guitar for $15.75 which he paid for by picking cotton at two bucks a hundred.
Who
could ever forget Henry's rendition of "Big Boss Man"
